Blue Whale

Blue whales are found in all the world’s oceans except the Arctic. They are most commonly seen in the North Atlantic, North Pacific, Indian, and Southern Oceans.

Some regions where Blue whales are found in

1. The coasts of California and Mexico Eastern North Pacific.

2. The North Atlantic Ocean around Iceland and Newfoundland.

3. The Indian Ocean especially near Sri Lanka.

4. The Southern Ocean around Antarctica during summer feeding season.

Here are facts of Blue Whales –

1. Blue Whale size up to 30 meters 98 feet are largest animal ever to live on earth, blue whale weight up to 180 metric tons.

2. Blue whales lifespan upto 70–90 years, and are fast swimmers speed up to 50 km per hour.

3. Blue Whales diet include tiny shrimp-like crustacean about 4–6 tons of krill per day during feeding season. They take massive mouthfuls of water and krill, then push water out through baleen plates, trapping the krill inside.

4. During summer in polar regions they migrate to warmer waters to breed and calve in winter and eat little.

5. Saguenay St. Lawrence Marine Park, Canada is One of the few places in North America to see blue whales from shore or boat.
